Real Love Instrumental

Got a really cool request for a repost of the Real Love Instrumental, so here it is. Now why is it cool you may ask? It's because the person who requested it, posting as Art Challuunge, used "Real Love" as their wedding song and he wants to use it as part of an anniversary gift for his wife.

So, very cool.

This instrumental was actually ripped from a vinyl release by my buddy Christian, who then uploaded them to share. Not sure I ever saw this blog as being able to have an impact on cool moments like this before. I love it.

As far as Arrested Development and Speech, I am simply waiting for the official release of Splash to hit, as well as a One Love solo album which I know a lot of AD fans are excited about. Hopefully we will hear more on those projects soon!

I posted this before but managed to screw up the embedded link, so here we go again! Here is "Up" the first single from the new AD album Splash.

Latest From Dionne Farris

While I don't believe Dionne Farris was ever an "official" member of Arrested Development, AD fans will always have a special place in their heart for her work on "Tennessee." She has released a number of projects in the years since, including, of course, the smash hit "I Know" (which I have below in case you somehow missed that hit years ago) from her album Wild Seed, Wild Flower. Anyway, I found this and thought I would share--she is working on a duo album with Charlie Hunter. Details can be found here at their Pledge Music page.

New AD Video "Out to the World"

I'm a tad bit late on this, but maybe you are too--so here's the new video from Splash called "Out to the World"! I'm still digesting the new album, which was released briefly last week in a special pre-release promotion, but so far this is probably my favorite song. Really love the background vocals on it.

Fantastic AD Article

Here is a great article on what Arrested Development is currently up to from Rhyme Junkie. Yes, it touches a bit on how they've been out of the mainstream and so forth like most articles about the group, but it doesn't dwell on it and goes much further. I really like this paragraph--I think the phrase "positive rap" is a misnomer for a lot of music labeled as such. A better term might be productive rap rather than "destructive" rap.

They were making songs that sounded upbeat, but didn’t necessarily have upbeat lyrics to go along with it. “Tennessee” is about the death of Speech’s grandmother. “Mr. Wendal” is about a homeless guy. “People Everyday” is about getting into a fight while on a date.

In case you missed it above, here's another link. Enjoy!

The Arrested Development App

I'm not huge on technology, truth be told, but apparently there are these things out there called Apps. You may have heard of them. Well, Arrested Development has one, and it is pretty good as far as I can tell. I really couldn't tell you the difference between a bad one and a good one but this one has all I could want from an app for a music group or artist. There's links to news, social media updates (seen above), and so forth, plus all the hits and more from both the group and Speech. But most exciting is that last I looked they had three new songs posted from the forthcoming album Splash. So if Apps are your thing, I highly recommend getting this one.

Eshe Solo Song: "You Make Me Wanna"

Somehow I missed this one--released early last year, here is the second solo song from Eshe called "You Make Me Wanna" featuring Omari Hardwick. It has a good vibe to it and I think most AD fans will enjoy it.

Eshe has also released a song titled "So Gone" which is available now on itunes and Amazon. There isn't a video yet, but as soon as there is I will post it here. Here is a link to her press release on that single along with details on what else she has been up to.

Ninja Turtles Theme "Everybody"

I'll be honest--I was under the impression I had managed to track down every commercially released song from either Speech or Arrested Development. But I am always happy to be proven wrong, because that means there is a song I've missed and thus new Speech music! Here's one featuring Speech with Metis, WISE, and JAMIL from a 2003 version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. From what I've been able to gather, this was the theme for the show for a season or two, at least in Japan. And it appears this soundtrack was only released in Japan as well. It's no "Ninja Rap" (just kidding) but it is pretty catchy! This version is not the best quality, but it's the only I can find, so it'll have to do!

Thanks to Kel for pointing this one out to me!

The Harvest is Here

Get it while the getting is good--new song from Arrested Development, presumably from Splash, released today as a New Year's gift to their fans. On that note, Happy New Year's, and enjoy the song!

(Update: As you can see, when they said it was only available for a day, they weren't messing around! I only heard it once before it was taken down...)
