Nice Review for Onya

The Hype Magazine gave a brief but nice review of the new Arrested Development single "Onya." You can read it here

While you're at it, check out their recent podcast featuring Speech, and a nice article/interview from 2016 with AD member Tasha LaRae!

New Arrested Development Single "Onya"

Wake up, wake up, wake up, it's the first of the month! (And also the first day of the end of daylight savings time in most of the United States, a dreadful, awful time.) But here to help power us through that we have an item on Tidal, soon to be joined by other streaming platforms, and that item is the new Arrested Development "standalone" single "Onya."

The single includes the main version and a remix from Configa, who produced a large chunk of Don't Fight Your Demons, along with an old-school TV track which is the instrumental with the chorus. While intended as a standalone, I will be adding both vocal versions to my playlist of the new album. And, since my car still has a CD player, looks like I will be burning another copy of the album to add this once it goes up on iTunes and/or Amazon

Update: You can pre-order the single here on BandCamp for release tomorrow, November 2nd.

Reel People Featuring Speech "I Never Knew"

Great news--despite just releasing the new AD album and having a new Speech album coming in two weeks, there's even more new music to check out--this time with Speech featuring on a new song from the group Reel People. This is an upbeat, happy tune featuring a lot of Speech, along with an official video. Check it out below! And the single includes a longer edit that runs over 5 minutes, so check that out as well on all major streaming and purchase sites.

New AD Single and Album

In case you haven't heard, AD is releasing a new album, Don't Fight Your Demons, this Friday--which makes this an ideal time to wake this blog from its slumber. So far two songs have been released from the album, "Becoming" and "Young Americans," both on one single along with a few other little bonuses, which I love about singles (available here). Here's a preview for the video of "Becoming":

And here's a behind-the-scenes look at "Becoming" from Configa, who will be producing all or most of the new album:

New AD Video "Out to the World"

I'm a tad bit late on this, but maybe you are too--so here's the new video from Splash called "Out to the World"! I'm still digesting the new album, which was released briefly last week in a special pre-release promotion, but so far this is probably my favorite song. Really love the background vocals on it.

Living Remix Contest Winner Announced

As you may or may not have been aware, AD had a contest to remix their single "Living."  It recently came to an end, to peep the winner as well as the five runner-ups go here.  I think the violin one is pretty cool too.

Couple of Living Remixes

Check them out, a few unsanctioned remixes of "Living":

I dig the vibe of this one.

Here's another.  Not bad, I like the first one better right now:

Brand New Living Video- With A Making Of Video

Not much more to say- a cool new AD video for Living (no April's Fool Joke here!).  Some of it reminds me of the early, early AD videos, specifically the black and white open, which was a nice touch and likely intentional.  Check it out!  Below that is a Making of video to boot.  Great stuff to check out for all AD fans.  Living has a spring feel to me so great time of year to revisit the song.

Living Single

Speaking of old Fox shows, did you see what I did with the title there? Well, at least I amused myself..... Anyway, if/when you pick up the new AD single "Living" make sure you buy it on their website as it includes an instrumental and acapella track as well as the song. I didn't realize that and simply bought it off itunes, so now I'll go back and double dip on the "special edition." Just a heads up! FYI the "I'ma Fight Back Right Now" single has an instrumental version as well on the AD site.

New AD Single

Just a reminder- the new Arrested Development single "Living" drops tomorrow on itunes.  I'll be checking it out for sure, so you do the same!

Finally, Some News!

There's quite a few things going on right now with Arrested Development- for starters, they have a new website that is MUCH better than the old one- check it out here

And in bigger news, they've announced a new single called "Living."  Go here for the details on this one.  The single will be released digitally on September 27th and is being produced by Randy Walker, who is someone new to working with the group.  (Randy Walker was also the name of the late "Stretch" who worked with Tupac Shakur early in his career.)  I'm not sure what project this single will be attached to, but I will definitely be checking for it and I'll have more on it then.

Ease My Mind

Well, it's been awhile since I've posted any new audio content, so the other day I went through basically every Arrested Development single I could find to make sure I hadn't missed anything.  Turns out, I could only find one- the "Ease My Mind" single.  The single is made up of the album version, "Shell" which is also on Zingalamduni, the Another Perspective Remix of "Ease My Mind" which popped up on Extended Revolution and was shared elsewhere here already (link may be dead, so let me know if you need it and I'll get it up).  So the only missing was the Instrumental and what's called a Beat Version of the song (basically a drum instrumental)- so here you go!  If anyone knows of anything I'm missing, let me know and I'd be glad to try to track it down.  I did figure out I missed an old Deee-Lite album with not one but two songs featuring Arrested Development, so that should be coming shortly!  Until then, enjoy these two b-sides.

Miracles Radio Edit

I forgot to post this, so for those who missed it, here is the Radio Edit of "Miracles" from the single.  When I think of radio edit, I usually think of a clean version of a song- obviously, that won't be the case with Arrested Development.  I'm going to have to look and see what is exactly different between this and the album version as I don't remember right now.

In other news, Arrested Development recently announced on twitter that they are in the studio and recording new material- so hopefully that means a new album will be out this year!  With all of the bad news that seems to be out there, I personally could really use some new AD music.

And here's the classic "Miracles" video, a nice feel-good video.

Miracles Single Part Two- Down and Dirty Live

I've always been a big fan of this song, so it's kind of cool to run across a great live version of "Down and Dirty."  So check it out, and like the title says this is from the "Miracles" single.  Check it out, and while we're at it, here's the video, in case you've overlooked it.

Miracles Single Part One - Live Version

The "Miracles" single was manufactured in Germany and features a couple of live versions that I haven't seen anywhere else, along with a radio edit of the single.  I recently found it on amazon for a decent price, and since I'm not greedy, I will share them, starting with the live version of "Miracles".  It's a really good recording of it, so enjoy!
